Located in the heart of the historic center of Quito, the construction of Hotel Boutique Portal Cantuña dates from 1863 and has been carefully restored . The hotel has a baroque style in its decoration, you can easily notice the gold leaf carved columns and pillars of the room, the dining room and other areas of the hotel.
In fact the owners are the direct managers of the hotel , offering guests a personalized and warm attention . The Sanchez family is a traditional quiteño family , who has lived in Quito for generations.
The current owner of the hotel is Mr. Mario Sanchez. The house was purchased to the Protectoras nuns of Obrero 120 years ago by the Sanchez family . It is for that reason that is far from the frenzy of Quito streets , at the end of an alley. Since then it was used as a center for collection and marketing of different agricultural products brought from the Barrancas farm, situated in Latacunga.
The hotel can help you arrange trips to Otavalo, Quilotoa, Mindo cloud forest, Papallacta hot springs, volcanoes Cotopaxi, Chimborazo, Cayambe and Illinizas, Yasuni National Park, Cuyabeno Wildlife Reserve, the Galapagos Islands and more.

It is a hotel located in an old restored house meters from the San Francisco church, right in the very centre of Quito. It is run by its very welcoming owners.
The rooms are decorated with very good detail and the whole house is like a museum .
It is a very cozy hotel, service is very good and all who work there are very friendly and cordial. It is located a few meters from the San Francisco church, near major attractions of the historic center. Highly recommended to return .
Great hostess ( Sonia ) – very useful and a great location. The triple room we had on the second and third night was great. The staff is outstanding everywhere.
I had an amazing time in Portal de Cantuña . The family is very friendly and are lovely people . The location could not have been better. Our stay in Quito would have been completely different (not so good) if we had to stay elsewhere!
